Framing the triple point





Yesterday's mystery object again. In retrospect I wish that I'd got more depth of field here. I'd like the background better focussed, please.

I still think it needs a group of explorers lead by Richard Dean Anderson staring at it though...

You are correct - its a rather battered and worm eaten paua shell. I understand abalone to mean the pale species found in Australia and elsewhere, where paua is the dark fleshed, bright shelled version we get here, but it looks like usage varies.

Nice job... and I should've remembered that NZ has it's own distinct regional version of Abalone. [not sure if it's a distinct species or not].
