Making in small spaces

So tatjna asked a question a while back about how we make stuff in the oft-times limited space we have available, and now I have started making again, I thought I'd show rather than tell. Here is my living room, in the initial phases of a project of moderate size and complexity. Everything I am using will stay out until I have finished - things that are cleaned up and put away often become UFOs - but I have become good at tidying bits of loose thread, triaging offcuts, and generally putting things away as I go, else it gets oppressively claustrophobic. Note the relative clearness of the sewing machine table - it tends to gather horizontal-surface-crud when not in use, and lose it when I want to use it.
I am fortunate in living alone, so there is no-one to annoy with the clutter but myself.

Flat spaces in my house get books stacked on them.

Stacking books is what floors are for.

Keeping messy bits under control definitely helps with it not getting out of hand, eh?

Your space is much smaller than mine, but you've managed to make it pretty efficient!

You should see inside Studio 318 just now. It isn't much wider than your place, I imagine from this photo. Longer, yes. Currently it is set up for mat cutting, print mounting, and framing. In order to photograph anything, I shall need to strike all that below and re-set a backdrop. Then, in the part which one doesn't see in either the mental photo or yours (because it is behind the photographer) I should need to re-set all of the Farmer's Market totes that we load for Herself going off to markets...

Perhaps you need some shelves?

Haha, that looks familiar! You're so right about things getting put away and then never finished. I have to keep everything right in front of me or I forget about it.
