Pomegranate

Pomegranates are awesome. I like picking out their delicious little jewel like seed thingies and eating them one by one. The only problem is, I find, that half a pomegranate is about the right amount of pomegranate for me. I obviously need to find someone to share pomegranates with.

Indeed.

On both counts.

The Underworld. Not so bad as a winter getaway place, really.

I hate getting the seeds out of pomegranates! Fortunately here you can buy a little supermarket punnet full of pomegranate seeds.

I keep reading that you can halve a pomegranate, hold a half over a bowl, whack it with a wooden spoon a few times and all the seeds will magically fall out. Hasn't worked for me yet.

Anyway, save the rest of the seeds, put 'em in the fridge and sprinkle them over salads, yoghurt, curries, stews, anything.

No spoon-whacking for me!

The process of getting the seeds out and nibbling is part of the enjoyment as far as I am concerned. I like pistachios for much the same reason, and would be bitterly disappointed to get my pomegranate seeds in a punnetized form, and my pistachios ready-shelled.
