There's something of Galathea in these. Of the woman bound in marble coming to life. Or in this case corsetry. :)

Interestingly enough one of my favourite subjects at uni was the Fantastique genre (mid-late C19 French Literature). Full of marble (or otherwise dead) women coming to life and tormenting narrators with their loveliness. Not that I claim to torment anyone.
