In other news, I can haz flatmate! Good to have that sorted before I take off for my Christmas break.
Next thing on the to-do list: Christmas pressies....

There's a whole series of Ziegfeld Follies pictures of scantily clad women with hoops. Have you seen them?

I'm glad I waited till I got home to have a look at those. They're modern reproductions aren't they?

Not modern reproductions, modern restorations/modifications. Digitally 'restored' (remove scratches, bends, etc) and then toned. I recognise a few of them from previously viewing originals.

No, they're digitized versions of original images on file in the Library of Congress. The pictures were taken during the 1920s by Alfred Cheney Johnson who worked for Florenz Ziegfeld, the man behind the Ziegfeld Follies.

Yay hoop!

And even more yay flatmate!

I can't decide whether to take my travel hoop to NZ or not. On the one hand, it will be warm so I can practice outside with bare legs, which is better for knee hooping. On the other, guaranteed bruises. And I have to show my legs at the wedding.

I thought that would catch your attention. How long will you be here and how much of a pain would carrying a hoop be? Hooping after the wedding should be fine.

I leave the day after the wedding!

There for 2 1/2 weeks. The hoop will fit into my suitcase.
