Hmm I quite like monochrome but maybe that's just because I saw it first. The colours were unexpected in the second picture, especially the blue curtain, I like it but perhaps it distracts from the chairs a bit.
Usually I'd say monochrome, but in this case the second image has so little color in it anyway that the blue curtain really adds a surprising note. So in this case I'll vote for color.
