Stop-gap measure.

And I'm back. Expensive stopgap measure is expensive, and now the most recent update from our ISP is we should have something up by the 4th. I hope so, it's Mum's birthday and I'd like to be able to skype her.

I'm guessing that's an air card? For wireless WiFi?

I have the shared use of one that the government pays $60 per month for. Very useful while traveling about the country.

It's a wireless modem (I expect that we're talking about the same thing) - it connects via the cellphone network, and I pre-pay per unit data - approximately $NZ10/Gbyte. 2degrees is a recent entry to the mobile network market, and they have some not horribly unreasonable deals at the moment. Being prepay means that I don't have a contract either, always a plus in my estimation.
