Yet another of your beautiful examinations of the built environment. How long, I wonder, have those wires been there? 20 years? 30?

I'm happy that someone besides me likes these ones. I've no idea how long that wiring has been there, but the other holes suggest that they replace even older ones.

Considering that's two-core-and-earth flat TPS, it'll be fairly young wiring in the grand scheme, probably no more than 40 years old.

What's it a wire from/to?

I think the square metal box is the remains of a light fitting. It's at Plimmerton railway station which dates from 1940 according to Wikipedia, but it's the second (at least) installation, looking at the holes next to it.
What's the lower limit on the age of that sort of wiring, do you know?

It's still in use. Standard house wiring, that is.
