Someone said cicada shell?

I collected one on the way home today. They are pretty cool!

In other news, I have made some changes to my diet, including not buying takeaways for lunch, as the portions tend to be about half again as much as I need for my rather sedentary job. There's no discernible change in my waistline as yet, but it's certainly doing my bank balance a world of good.

I think that looks even creepier than the alive one.

The best diet ever is not being able to afford to eat! I've lost about 7-8kgs since moving over here as I just can't buy all the yummy things I want. I'm sure I'll put it back on once I get regular pay cheques :D

Yeah I'd have to agree with you there about the creepiness.

I hope you can afford to eat again soon!

Beautiful!
So many photos are focused on the object itself. I love your use of light and shadow!

I've had enough images absolutely ruined in the past by a badly placed or ill-framed shadow that I notice them now. It's a bit like noticing and avoiding having trees or signposts growing out of people's heads.

It's a very interesting view that few people notice... untill it is pointed out to them.
Bravo!

Hmm...I could have fun with something like that, adding bits of electronics and gears and things...[nothing functional, well, except maybe a couple of glowing micro-LED's behind the eyes]

It's a bit fragile for that kind of thing I think, but now you've got me wanting a wind-up steampunk hermit crab.

Something like that would ahve to be stablised by injecting it with an amber/clear acrylic cold setting-resin first I think... or maybe after very carefully adding a few internal bits. And at that it might take a few tries.

But yeah, a steampunk hermit crab would be a lot easier to do... hmm...would you want it to look pretty, or actually scuttle too?

I think something involving the guts out of a clockwork toy and suitable shell could be arranged...
