Arachne? Charlotte? Fluffy?

Here she is by daylight, trying to look like anything but a tasty protein-filled snack for a passing avian. Shown about four times actual size, just in case any of you were worried about my personal safety.

I'm a big fan of spiders. Not too many people are, you know.

I'd noticed that. Spiders are quite welcome around here, except for white-tails, and they make good models. You can find a few more shots attached to the wildlife tag, and they usually come with an arachnophobe warning.

I got some decent shots of a spiderweb in the rain two nights ago. I was surprised at how the web stretched out when it got wet. The spider had to take it down and rebuild. It's getting late in the season for them, and I suspect she'll die in a couple of weeks. I usually get four of five really big ones on my porch this time of year.
