Peeking duck

There's this stormwater outfall near Te Papa. As stormwater outfalls go, it's not too bad - there's a reed bed behind it which renders it a lot less noxious than it could be. When the wind is high, the water gets blown back in sheets of spray. The ducks seem to quite enjoy the shower.

It's been a pretty typical Wellington day all round, actually. Blowing a gale, earthquake at 2am, aftershock at 4, and at least one ministry got pretty much nothing done all day.

Leggy, but harmless. I wonder what evolutionary advantage the legs provide - they mostly look clumsy and vulnerable to damage.

So I've had occasion to go back through some of my photos recently. I'm actually pretty good at this and I should get the hell over my current…

    Heh. Birds eye view.
