For context...

I get carried away with the shapes in the close-ups sometimes that I forget you guys don't get to know what's outside the frame. Unless of course, I show you. The horseshoe has been painted over several times by the looks of things, and is nailed to the post with actual horseshoe nails. The post is in the central city, near Cuba St, in a place that hasn't seen horse-traffic for the best part of a century (that's a long time on this side of the planet) and I think there's a good chance that it's been there that long.

I don't think you really NEED context for a photo like the one you posted yesterday. Not that knowing the context isn't kinda cool, but it's not necessary.

I don't need it, no. This was the picture that I was originally going to use, and after I cropped it and straightened it and munged 'round with the contrast I decided that I preferred the other one. I realised after your and madshutterbug's comments that I'd mentally written the words for this pic and not the other.
