Having more control over what one's camera is doing allows one a whole lot more latitude in which to stuff up. I think I'll have to read up a bit more about how the light metering and also the autofocus work. I suppose I have had over a year of getting used to a far simpler camera and can't expect to duplicate that sort of familiarity in a weekend.
Still, one or two shots worked out ok, and I'm delighted with the portrait function.
